EFQM – Accreditation

The King Abdullah II Center for Excellence (KACE), being the representative of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), awards the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts (RACA) with EFQM’s Committed to Excellence (C2E) 2 Star Certificate.

The Executive Director of the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Rawabdeh, handed over the certificate to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts His Excellency Dr. Wajih Owais and RACA’s Campus Director Mr. Jacques Rossel.

RACA is the first educational institution specialized in the hospitality sector to achieve (EFQM)’s Commitment to Excellence accreditation in Jordan, as this certificate is a recognition scheme that guides institutions to deliver better results and achieve excellence. This accreditation achieves global recognition of RACA’s commitment to quality standards as per international best practices.

The award ceremony took place at RACA on Tuesday 21st July 2020, with the presence of officials from KACE, RACA board members and officials from USAID Building Economic Sustainability through Tourism Project; which provided the technical support for this project.

Mr. Jacques Rossel, Director of RACA, said: “Since its opening in 2008, the Royal Academy has always pursued its goal to be a model of Excellence in Culinary Education within the local and international market. Over the years, the hospitality sector in Jordan and abroad has recognized and praised the quality of our graduates and RACA has become a trusted source of young trained chefs, ready for this very demanding industry. Providing a market with professional and qualified workforce can only be achieved if RACA operates with the right mindset toward Quality and cascade this way of thinking throughout its organization. We are thrilled of today’s success and our gratitude go greatly toward the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence for their guidance and recommendations, and USAID BEST for their professional advices and technical support.”

Online Learning

In order to ensure a positive experience for all our students, the Royal Academy Of Culinary Arts has implemented an entirely remote, online learning system for the new semester will starts today Sunday 12 April 2020 to ensure our students continuing to receive a high-quality education during the COVID-19 pandemic.

RACAs’ distant learning program will combine both recorded lectures and daily interactive sessions with the instructors, that will offer an optimal learning outcome to our students, at the highest standards considering the situation. Also, The lectures will be delivered through the Microsoft Teams platform and the latest teaching methods trough students Ipads.

Ramadan Recipes

During Ramadan, and COVID-19 pandemic our amazing chefs of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts shared and cooked three recipes every day from their home. Also, The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts made a competition which is to ”guess the tips” that’s shown in the video, the winner will be announced at the end of Ramadan.

Graduation Ceremony 2019

RACA celebrated its Graduation 2019 ceremony on Wednesday (6 November 2019), honoring the achievements of 103 students under the patronage of H.E. Mr. Alaa Batayneh, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD), and H.E. Mr. Lukas Gasser the Ambassador of Switzerland to Jordan, with the presence of H.E. Dr. Wajeeh Oweis, Chairman of RACA’s Board of Trustees.

This tenth graduation ceremony was held at the King Hussein Business Park Auditorium, and was followed by a cocktail reception prepared and served by our students.

Mayor of Amman Special Visit

The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts was honored on Tuesday 19 November with the special visit of Mayor of Amman, H.E. Dr. Yousef Shawarbeh to the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts with the presence of H.E Mr. Alaa Batayneh, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD).
The visit included a tour in RACA’s campus with RACA’s Director and his deputy, where the guests learned about the academic programs at RACA and also met few students at the reception lunch that was prepared and served by RACA’s students.
The purpose of this visit is to get to know RACA; as it is an educational institution that supports Jordanian youth and provides the industry with internationally qualified Jordanian work force

The Minister of Industry and Trade of Norway Visit

The Minister of Trade and Industry of Norway Ms.Iselin Nybø visited The Royal Academy Of Culinary Arts on Sunday 1 March 2020 as her first visit to Royal Academy of Culinary Arts.
This visit is among the visits of the economic and political delegation accompanying the Norwegian King and Queen on their State Visit to Jordan.
RACA’s Director Chef Jacques Rossel accompanied the Minister in a tour at RACA to introduce her to the various academic facilities in addition she attended a workshop about the Norwegian food with the academy’s students.

Chocolate Workshop

A chocolate workshop given by our Chef Mohammad Al-Zubaidi, students learned about temperature methods, how to color chocolate, experimenting with nougat and nuts, coating techniques, presentation and molding, as they were also able to prepare different types of fillings! Well done RACAteers!
